Practice Focus is a software tool designed to help practices and PCTs meet national and local quality targets, and to improve data collection from general practice.

Practice Focus has been designed using the experience of practicing clinicians, practice managers and PCT management teams, working in partnership with specialists in GP clinical systems. It provides practices and PCT with performance information for chronic disease management (CDM), including QOF indicators, enhanced services and additional quality targets. Many of the function availablein Practice Focus are not routinely available on clinical systems.

The fully encrypted export function manages the transport of sensitive data from practice to PCT and other data collection agencies.

PCTs using Practice Focus across all their practices have an excellent tool to gather information for public health purposes. QMS is committed to developing additional modules in collaboration with PCTs, according to their priorities. For example, in response to concerns re high rates of exception reporting in a London PCT, we have produced a comprehensive reporting module aimed at reducing inappropriate recording of exception codes, whilst supporting practices in verification and recording and evidence.

Currently compatible with all systems that meet RFA 99 accreditation criteria, using 5 byte Read Codes or CTV3 codes. All the  statistical data from participating practices can be aggregated at the PCT to provide a comprehesive database.

Installed across all practices in a PCT, Practice Focus provides a toole to streamline data colelction according to PCT specific requirements, for example:

  • Statistical data for performance monitoring
  • Anonymised data for research and public health purposes
  • Patient identifiable data to populate databases, for example:
    • Central retinal screening register.
    • Direct upload of immunisation data to PCT database
    • Health Check Programme
